2014: A Transition Year for Markets
On Wednesday 4 June, clients of ESV and Wilson HTM were invited to an exclusive event discussing the current global economic outlook and its predicted impact on financial markets. With an emphasis on the Australian investor, the evening outlined the latest domestic developments and policy changes, as well as demonstrating the ways our global counterparts impact our investment decisions.
For those interested in financial markets, the economy and their share portfolios, this was an evening not to be missed. Senior investment strategists at Wilson HTM, Peter McManus and John Lockton, both presented their unique take on the current economic environment and where opportunities may exist going forward.
Between them, Peter and John have almost 30 years experience in investment markets, and their impressive knowledge and understanding of where the market is moving shone through in their presentations. Peter has devoted 13 years to private client research focussing on investment strategy and portfolio construction, and John has spent 15 years in investment markets with a focus on funds management and stock selection. It’s safe to say they know what they’re talking about when it comes to investment strategy.
Peter outlined how the US recovery, China slowdown and steadying Europe conditions of the global outlook are expected to impact Australian investors.
Following an examination of the economic outlook, the evening’s focus shifted towards current opportunities and future expected growth areas, including the potential for a shift in growth from financials to industrials.
This event was an opportunity to gain an understanding of current dynamics of the market and how to most effectively manage their investments in the lead up to the end of the financial year, whilst eliminating a lot of the stock market jargon.
